Roger Barron Morrison was a geologist with the United States Geological Survey. In the Great Basin, he used ancient piluvial lake deposits and soils created/built in previous ice ages to map ancient lake levels and climates.

John Bell got a high point above one of his type localities named Morrison Peak. It overlooks the desert basins filled with sediment that Roger studied. The “Top Gun” Naval Air Station lies below, built on the flat lake beds.
